Spire enters merger agreement with Yamada Business Consulting, one of Japan’s largest consulting firms

The Spire Research and Consulting Group is proud to announce its merger with   Yamada Business Consulting Co., Ltd.   or YBC – one of the five largest management consulting firms in Japan and a publicly listed firm on JASDAQ, the second board of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. YBC is part of the Yamada Consulting group, which has over 1,200 staff across 12 offices in Japan. With this merger, YBC will use Spire as its global brand outside of Japan. On 15 April 2016, YBC acquired an 80 per cent stake in Spire Research and Consulting Pte Ltd, the Singapore parent company for the Spire Research and Consulting group of companies. Leon Perera, the co-founder of Spire, will continue to serve as the CEO of the group, retaining a 20 per cent stake. Equiteq has been the exclusive financial adviser to Spire in the completion of this transaction. AmCham Singapore highlights Spire’s contribution to Corporate Community Day

Spire Singapore’s association with the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) Corporate Community Day for eight consecutive years is a true commitment to corporate volunteerism, further showcased by the special mention of Spire on AmCham Singapore’s website. Spire joins AmCham Corporate Community Day for eighth consecutive year

Spire Singapore collaborated with the Singapore Children’s Society for the fifth consecutive year, in support of AmCham Singapore’s Corporate Community Day (CCD) 2015. This is the eighth year in which Spire has been participating in the CCD program, which aims to promote corporate volunteerism. Spire Singapore took beneficiaries of the Singapore Children’s Society to an ice-cream making session. The children were excited to have the chance to create their own flavors and decorate their creations, while picking up a useful and fun skill. We were honored by the visit of Ms Mary-Gardner Coppola from the US Embassy, who joined in the ice-cream making session. Ms Coppola interacted with the beneficiaries as well as the staff and volunteers of Spire Singapore and the Singapore Children’s Society. Women corporate leaders aspire to bigger roles, demand flexible working hours

Women executives aspire to climb the corporate ladder, but child-care responsibilities have created a speed-bump. Significant minorities report experiencing discrimination and exclusion from “old boys networks” in China and India. Women would like to have more flexible working hours as well as being able to take a few years break from work and re-enter smoothly. These are the findings from a pro-bono survey conducted by strategic market research consultancy Spire Research and Consulting in October 2014. Spire’s survey of 300 female respondents holding executive and managerial positions in companies in China, India and Malaysia (100 per country) concentrated on the corporate aspirations of women, impediments they felt they faced and solutions they favored. The survey used a hybrid online and telephonic interviewing methodology. 98% of the women surveyed in India aspired to grow into a corporate leadership position.
