Spire’s story shared at the CEO-series talk in at Singapore Management University


To share the lessons from Spire’s journey from start-up 16 years ago to an international boutique consultancy today, Spire’s CEO Leon Perera delivered a presentation as part of the Singapore Management University Business School’s CEO-series talk.

Leon Perera, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Spire Research and Consulting group, was privileged to be invited as a guest speaker at the CEO-series talk organized by the Singapore Management University Business School on 22 September 2016 in Singapore. In his presentation, he shared the lessons from Spire’s 16 year journey from start-up to a mid-sized boutique consultancy operating in 8 countries.

Perera mentioned that in order to succeed, an organization should keep its core objective in mind. This is why Spire developed a clear mission statement, set of values, Code of Honour and client charter right from the start. It is also advisable for professional services firms to take brand building seriously and invest in Trade Mark protection globally.
One key aspect of Spire’s DNA is that staff make time for regular meetings to share highlights as well as lowlights from recent experience.

In growing an international network, a key success factor was the company’s commitment to embracing diversity as a source of strength, while tailoring its strategy in each country to local conditions, with the HQ and country offices working closely to regularly review and calibrate those strategies.

Zapping away viruses

A new germ-zapping robot manufactured by Xenex in the U.S. could emerge as a saviour against deadly viruses like Ebola. It uses pulses of high-intensity, high-energy ultra-violet rays to crack bacterial cell walls and kill virus-afflicting pathogens. It has been successfully tested on 22 different microorganisms – destroying viruses similar to Ebola. Standing at 5 feet and bearing the nickname “Saul”, the ultra-violet rays it emits are 25,000 times brighter than fluorescent lights and can kill pathogens that are generally missed by the naked eye. A few surgical teams in the United States have been trained to use this technology on Ebola patients. According to research, hospitals with access to this technology have been able to bring down general infection rates by 60%. It is already being used in 250 hospitals. Spire Client Entertainment Night December 2019

Spire Singapore hosted its third client entertainment event of the year. Business associates, partners and clients joined the Spire team for the dinner reception followed by the movie screening of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Episode IX)”- the much awaited last movie in the Star Wars saga. The final installment in the Star Wars saga revolved around the epic battle between Jedi and Sith. The movie featured most of the key characters from the earlier Episodes 4 to 6.
