Hotel check-ins made easier with digital keys

Ever thought of unlocking your hotel room door using your mobile device?

Starwood Hotels & Resorts in the US is trying to make this possible. It aims to send digital keys to their guests’ mobile devices via an application using Bluetooth technology; doing away with the conventional check-in plastic swipe cards. The guests can then check in directly and unlock their hotel rooms easily with just a simple tap. This would in turn eliminate the process of stopping at the registration desk for check-ins. The hotel chain is planning to implement this application in all of its hotels by the year 2015.
